Homeland Security / Haz Mat

All programs meet the requirements of Title 8, Chapter 4, Section 5192 (q), (6), (A), (B), & (C) and (q), (11), (B) and curriculum is from CSTI or State Fire Marshall.

Haz Mat "Awareness/Operations"/FRA/FRO

First Responders at the "Awareness and Operations" level are individuals who are likely to witness or discover a hazardous substance release and who have been trained to initiate an emergency response sequence by notifying the proper authorities of the release.

They would take no further action beyond notifying the authorities of the release.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1.
An understanding of what hazardous substances are and the risk associated with them in an incident.
2. An understanding of the potential outcomes associated with an emergency created when hazardous substances are present.
3. The ability to recognize the presence of hazardous substances in an emergency.
4. The ability to identify the hazardous substance, if possible.
5. An understanding of the role of the first-responder awareness individual in the employer's emergency response plan including site security and control and the U.S. Department of Transportation's Emergency Response Guidebook.
6. The ability to realize the need for additional resources and to make appropriate notification to communication center.

Program Length - 4-24 hours
Cost - $150.00 per student per hour (1-12 students - minimum of 5 students)
$200.00 admin fee (13-20 students)

Haz Mat Annual Refreshers

Review of related information for all Haz Mat formats:

 7. Incident Response

Program Length - 8 hours
Cost - $150.00 per hour (minimum of 10 students)
Certification - State Certified (wall certificate) and Wallet Card


Confined Space Awareness

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1. Introduce fire service personnel to the codes that impact operations within confined spaces.
2. Provide fire service personnel with the information to identify confined spaces and permit confined spaces.
3. ntroduce fire service personnel to the hazards of confined spaces.
4. Introduce fire service personnel to the equipment and procedures required to deal with confined space rescue safely and legally.
5. Introduce fire service personnel to the basic operational positions, and their responsibilities as set forth by CAL-OSHA.
6. Prepare fire service personnel for confined space entry/rescue training.

Program Length - 8 hours
Cost - $150.00 per hour (minimum of 5 students) 1-12 students
$200.00 admin fee for 13-20 students

HazMat Quizes


 

Haz Mat "Industry Technician" (Hazwoper)Program

Assumes a more aggressive role than FRO in that they approach the point of release in order to plug, patch or otherwise stop the release of hazardous substance.

Each student must receive a minimum of 40 hours of "Technician" training or have current FRO certification and an additional 24 hours of "Technician" training.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1. Know how to implement your company's emergency response plan.
2.  Know the classification, identification and verification of known and unknown materials by using field survey instruments and equipment.
3. Be able to function with an assigned role in ICS.
4. Select and use proper specialized chemical PPE/CPC..
5. Perform advance control, containment and/or confinement.
6. Perform offensive operations that may involve contact with the material.
7. Understand and implement decon and termination procedures.
8. Understand basic chemical and toxicological terminology and behavior.

Program Length - 40 hours
Cost - $400.00 per student (minimum of 5 students) 1-12 students
$200.00 admin fee for 13-20 students
Certification - State Certified (wall  certificate) and Wallet Card

 


SCBA / APR Fit Test & Drill

Requirements and the use of respiratory protective equipment.  Participants are also fit-tested for the use of passive, air-purifying respirators (APRs).

Confined Space Rescue Operation

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1. Introduce fire service personnel to the codes that impact operations within confined spaces.
2. Provide fire service personnel with information to identify confined spaces and permit required confined space.
3. Introduce fire service personnel to hazards in confined spaces.
4. Provide fire service personnel with the information to evaluate hazardous atmospheres.
5. Provide fire service personnel with the techniques needed to evaluate confined spaces.
6. Provide fire service personnel with the information needed to build basic rope rescue systems in confined spaces.
7. Provide fire service personnel with the information to determine adequate levels of personnel protection.
8. Provide fire service personnel with techniques needed for hazard mitigation.
9. Introduce fire service personnel to the basic operational positions, and their responsibilities as set forth by CAL-OSHA.
10. Prepare fire service personnel for confined space rescue  operations.

Program Length - 40  hours
Cost - $150.00 per hour for 1-12 students (minimum of 5 students)
13-20 students $200.00 admin fee
